Meet David
I have been a native of DeKalb County for 55 years.
I ran for State Senate in 2018.
I am a married father of two with One very dedicated wife.
My life journey has taken many turns and my experiences and knowledge make me the candidate you have been asking for.
I am a Village of Shabbona Trustee, Member of the Reg. Planning of DeKalb Co. and Chair of the Public Affairs Committee in Shabbona.
My first job was working on a Dairy Farm at age 13. I was one of the kids who started the Cortland.
I attended Kishwaukee College. I was a former Lumber Yard Manager at RP Lumber DeKalb.
I've owned my own custom woodworking business and am currently working at Illinois Industrial Lumber in Montgomery IL.
I decided to run for this office when I discovered how desperate our district communities have become in funding. Everywhere I go, I hear the same stories of missing grant opportunities and under funding. Having a knowledgeable grant writer is huge for anyone who doesn't know the grant system. There is a large pool of cash which sits in Springfield waiting to be used, but not enough people understand how it works. A Grant Writer will change that.
Another concern I have is food security. Most of us in the district live in a rural community. Grocery stores are at a minimum. The supply of fresh food is imperative for the good health of our residents, and one of my priorities. 1 in 5 rural children live in homes with a lack of adequate food. We can do so much to protect our food sources including stopping foreign investment companies from purchasing Illinois farmland. Set up a small farm system focused on food production. Illinois can be the leader in food production because we have the best farmland in the world and should utilize that resource.
I will always be on the side of Public Education, Union Labor, Women's rights, and anything to help protect our environment. I am running because of what I believe in, and a government that's fair for everyone.
