Issues Facing Our District:

  • My goal is to go to Springfield and bring meaningful change to our district and all of Illinois.
  • An Agenda to Support our Rural Communities.  I want to bring changes to how we work on funding communities through the grant system which is the basis for our infrastructure.  It is intended to to get money to and where it is needed.  Unfortunately, we as smaller communities cannot afford a grant writer who knows when, how and what grants to write for.  The solution is to have a grant writer supplied by the state.  They will know the answers for what is needed to help a community get the funds they need to have infrastructure for the coming decades.  Thus  creating micro economies brining jobs to rural Illinois.
  • Funding local communities to bring jobs that pay a living wage to all areas of the 74th district. This gives us opportunities to work with people who are looking for places to set up shop.  It is up to our legislative representative to reach out when those opportunities appear in order to help the entire district.  Every community needs more, better paying jobs.  A State Rep should work on that goal.
  • Making Rural Healthcare more available.  One of my goals is to bring meaningful changes to rural healthcare.  Many of our constituents have to drive long  distances to find adequate healthcare.  By setting up mobile, or part time clinics, a provider could obtain tax benefits, and peoples needs could be met without needing long trips to current providers.
  • Most health problems come from lack of adequate, accessible care stemming from geographical challenges.  Having a full time nurse to provide general first aid and basic healthcare and refer to a doctor at the closest medical facility could improve  choices for residents.
  • Bringing healthcare providers to rural areas and even out in larger communities that are losing hospitals.
  • Assuring that health spending accounts stay with the person or family what saved the money.  Some companies are stating that if you don't use that money, it goes back to the company.
  • A crucial issue we need to resolve is that if we set up a rural healthcare option, insurance companies may not accept the providers as "In Network".  In network provider care only burdens communities and populations.  I will be looking into working on a law requiring the closest provider to be allowed as in network.  Just some of the plans I am making to assist in helping our 74th district.
  • The fight against Global Warming.   Water conservation is my main environmental goal.  I sit on the Regional Planning and Zoning committee in DeKalb county.  One thing I have learned is how many communities have very real water concerns.
  • We need more implementable water conservation efforts.  We need a better plan to help small communities to move forward.  Stop tiling fields and plant more trees.  Funding is the key, a community cannot afford to be left holding the entire bill for water infrastructure.
  • Fund Public Education.  All Illinois students have the right to attend school for free.  Sometimes we do have to apply some fees. Source: Illinois Constitution 1872.   Fair funding across Illinois is necessary for student not to be left behind due to geographic, racial or social boundary lines.  Support feeding kids in the schools with breakfast and lunch.  Full bellies make for quality learning experience.
  • Protecting Illinois Farmland from foreign investment companies is a cause I am passionate about.
  • Food Security in every community.   The problem facing Illinoisans in rural districts is local accessibility.  Have you been to a local grocery store lately?  Have you noticed a produce section with bare shelves, empty sections and food that comes from other countries?  I propose Micro Farming.  All areas of Illinois have 1/4 to 10 acre parcels of land not utilized for for food production or any type of farming.  Farming for Families wants to help prospective food farmer get started producing food for local sale.  According to the USDA, 3 million Illinoisans are considered to be living in a food desert.  That is 20% of Illinois residents  who are not within 10 miles of a grocery store.  This puts an onerous burden on the population who are trying to feed their families.  Grocery stores are at a minimum. The supply of fresh food is one of my priorities.  We can do so much to protect our food sources including stopping foreign investment companies from purchasing Illinois farmland. Set up a small farm system focused on food production. Illinois can be the leader in food production because we have the best farmland in the world and should utilize that resource.
  • Eliminate food sales tax without raising taxes elsewhere.
  • I want to help develop a small farm food network without raising taxes.  I want to do this by helping Farmer's Markets by enhancing access to the food chain.
  • A diet rich in vegetable and fruits can lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke, prevent some types of cancer, lower the risk of eye and digestive problems, and have a positive effect upon blood sugar, which can keep appetite in check.  Eating Non Starchy vegetables and fruits like apples, pears, and leafy greens may promote weight loss.  Their low glycemic load prevents blood sugar spike that can increase hunger.  Source:  Harvard University
  • Supporting Union Labor.  I always support union labor.
  • Women's Rights  I am a strong believer in Women's Rights.  The ability to vote, have a checking account, owning property and most importantly Body Autonomy.
  • I have been a native of DeKalb County for 55 years.  My life journey has taken many turns and my experiences and knowledge make me the candidate you have been asking for.

  • I decided to run for this office when I discovered how desperate our district communities have become in funding. Everywhere I go, I hear the same stories of missing grant opportunities and under funding.

  • I will always be on the side of Public Education, the charter/private school system should not take dollars away from our public schools.May be an image of text that says 'PUBLIC DOLLARS BELONG IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS'

  • Union Labor, Women's rights, and anything that can be done to help protect our environment, especially from a water conservation and cleanliness of the watershed position.  Water is Life.

  • I am running because of what I believe in, and a government that's fair for everyone.
